About the Role
EGI is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join their Owner's Engineering team, focusing on the civil aspects of HV transmission projects, particularly cable installation and onshore substation construction. This role is crucial for integrating renewable energy sources and managing energy markets.
Responsibilities
- Define plant-specific requirements for HVDC converter station and cable systems, focusing on civil engineering.
- Evaluate sites from a civil engineering perspective for feasibility and technical challenges.
- Provide input on cable route feasibility from a civil engineering standpoint, considering crossings, HDD, and access restrictions.
- Manage the technical implementation process, including drafting tender documents and awarding contracts.
- Prepare technical and economic alternative comparisons for investment decisions.
Requirements
- Several years of experience in infrastructure projects as a civil design & engineer, consulting engineer, or project manager.
- Understanding of civil engineering requirements for power infrastructure projects, including HV substation design, HVDC converter stations, buildings, roads, trenches, crossings (HDD), steel structures, and control buildings.
- Experience in civil works, planning, design, and tendering.
- Capability to determine the work scope for greenfield projects.
- Experience working in a team of engineers on complex transmission projects in Germany.
- Experience in project implementation according to HOAI.
- Specific experience and knowledge of landfall civil works (e.g., cable landing HDD) is an asset.
