About the Role

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Environment Business. This role will lead the delivery of high-profile, complex projects that shape sustainable infrastructure across the UK. The Project Manager will take full ownership of project delivery, driving safety, quality, and innovation while managing multi-disciplinary teams and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Create a ‘Knowingly Safe’ working environment and champion a positive safety culture.
  • Embed a F.R.E.D.I.E culture across the project team.
  • Ensure CDM principles are applied and all relevant legislation is fully complied with.
  • Take ownership for the delivery and quality of work to the required standards.
  • Manage Construction Teams and Supply Chain partners to deliver the scheme in line with agreed Budget, Programme, and Scope.
  • Lead the Commercial Team to manage costs, maximise cash flow and profitability, and capture any changes in scope.
  • Take ownership of risk and opportunities in conjunction with the Risk Manager.
  • Engage with designers to ensure safe, buildable, and timely design during the detailed design phase for efficient delivery.
  • Ensure all pre-commencement and regulatory requirements are discharged prior to work commencing.
  • Appoint a Temporary Works Coordinator and ensure all Temporary Works requirements are understood and designed in a timely manner.
  • Plan and prepare for delivery of the scheme throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Champion the use of innovative technologies and techniques to drive efficiency and sustainability.
  • Plan, prepare, and oversee the establishment of site offices and compound.
  • Interview, select, and onboard staff in line with the resource profile for the scheme.
  • Ensure adequate resource to fulfil the programme, including demobilisation and redeployment at project completion.
  • Manage, monitor, and review direct reports and team performance, providing encouragement and discipline as needed.
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate collaborative workshops as required.
  • Ensure any incidents/accidents are thoroughly investigated, closed out, and learnings implemented.
  • Engage with the Performance Team to ensure all CPF/BSC scoring is completed and evidenced.
  • Ensure all internal and external reporting is completed as required.

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence and relevant CSCS card.
  • Proficient in Office 365 and digital collaboration tools.
  • Professional certification such as Prince2 or APM (or equivalent).
  • HNC/Degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and commitment to compliance.
  • Excellent understanding of NEC contracts with proven commercial acumen.
  • Ability to promote a positive safety, quality, and FREDIE culture across teams.
  • Proven track record in leading multiple teams, driving performance and professional development.
  • First-class project management capabilities, showcasing successful delivery against client expectations.
  • Expertise in developing a high-performance culture and embedding continuous improvement.
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills, both internal and external.
  • Demonstrated leadership and delegation skills, inspiring confidence and accountability.
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety responsibilities, adhering to company policies and procedures.
