Responsibilities
- Connect electrical fittings, drill holes, and solder for vehicle modifications.
- Install electrical wiring and antenna systems, routing data and power cabling.
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicle interiors to route wiring and install equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems.
- Complete installations for diverse vehicle makes and models.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including tool organization.
- Learn new products, skills, and techniques.
- Complete all required paperwork and documentation.
- Maintain customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
Requirements
- 2 years of technical experience, or a combination of related education/experience.
- Basic knowledge and experience with the installation of systems/equipment within various vehicle types (e.g., 2-way radios, lighting, cameras, GPS).
- Ability to read electrical diagrams and perform installations.
- Basic ability to test and troubleshoot electrical and system issues.
- Ability to assemble/disassemble, route wiring, connect fittings, install harnesses, drill holes, and solder.
- Basic understanding of DC voltage, resistance, and current.
- Basic understanding of wire gauges and fuses based on DC current demand.
- Ability to use basic tools and test equipment (hand tools, drills, multi-meters, watt meters).
- Ability to work inside and outside in various weather conditions.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, talk, hear, and use PPE.
- Ability to lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bend, and use near vision.
- Ability to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to position self to maintain computers or other equipment.
- On-call availability for critical systems maintenance may be required.
- Valid driver's license required.
