About the Role
This role involves learning and following established procedures for receiving and inventorying incoming eggs and packaging materials, palletizing product, assembling egg orders, and loading trucks while minimizing damage.
Responsibilities
- Learn Kreher’s pre-established shipping/receiving and palletizing procedures and guidelines.
- Check paperwork before unloading, counting all items to ensure they match the paperwork.
- Inspect all items for damage and report any damage to a supervisor immediately.
- Ensure incoming product is stored in the correct location.
- Label all incoming product with a run number or date received.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of coolers, docks, and warehouses.
- Ensure all pallets and racks are securely wrapped.
- Collaborate with a supervisor to map out truck loads before loading.
- Verify that the truck is clean and odor-free.
- Secure the dock plate before loading, using cardboard under flat plates to prevent slipping.
- Double-check invoices and load sheets to ensure correct items are placed on pallets.
- Follow proper rotation (first in, first out) when building pallets.
- Record run numbers on load sheets and invoices, and initial all invoices.
- Handle all products carefully and report any damage to a supervisor; do not ship damaged product.
- Load trucks using load bars and straps.
- Ensure all trucks are locked if moved away from the dock.
- Assist in other areas as required.
- Communicate with the middle person/operator on correct orders and amounts for palletizing.
- Ensure cases are correctly stamped, dated, and closed when palletizing.
- Stack cases straight and square on the pallet, with stamps and stickers facing outward.
- Move and label full pallets into their proper locations.
- Know product details and quantities required for packing.
- Number each pallet consecutively and mark the run number on the bottom of each case.
- Keep the work area clean.
- Frequently check tape level and taper operation.
- Place cardboard on the bottom of every pallet, and on specific rows of half cases and EB's.
Requirements
- General interest in learning warehousing procedures.
- Ability to accurately follow and document paperwork.
- Ability and desire to learn and grow.
- Capable of learning to operate power lift jacks.
