About the Role

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in achieving financial results, delivering exceptional customer experiences, developing team members, and overseeing daily store operations. This role provides leadership in sales, customer service, opening/closing procedures, front-end operations, compliance, and other assigned operational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime.
  • Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment.
  • Deliver Legendary Service and reinforce Leading with Legendary behaviors.
  • Use A+ Coaching routines to develop Team Members.
  • Assist the Store Manager with overall store operations.
  • Support Customer loyalty, selling skills, monthly training, and product knowledge.
  • Support hiring efforts, recruiting, Team Member training, and continuous learning.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including Store routines and cash handling oversight.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Champion Legendary Customer Experience.
  • Support Sales Team F2F process execution.
  • Support assembly planning, Store meetings, community events, and order store supplies.
  • Complete BOPIS/BODFS reconciliation when the Receiver is not scheduled.
  • Lead freight movement and support merchandising initiatives.
  • Adhere to loss prevention, safety, and security standards.
  • Operate cash register/computer, forklift, and baler.
  • Assist customers with loading purchases.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Obtain license or certifications as needed.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous retail leadership experience is required.
  • Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper MHE.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Ability to safely access all areas of the store.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store.
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to process information / merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
  • Ability to successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.
  • Ability to travel as required in support of district needs.
  • Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
