About the Role

TrendAI is seeking a Staff or Senior Staff Software Engineer to build Trend Vision One Internet Access, a secure web gateway that inspects and secures enterprise traffic to the internet, including AI services. This role involves hands-on engineering with architectural scope, focusing on cloud proxy points of presence, on-premises gateways, and a cloud control plane. The team is defining how AI shapes the development process itself, requiring strong systems thinking, operational instinct, critical review, security thinking, and domain expertise.

Responsibilities

Design and implement features across the cloud proxy data path, control-plane microservices, and on-premises gateways.
Own one or more services end-to-end, including policy evaluation, traffic inspection, identity sync, gateway management, and logging.
Extend AI Secure Access coverage by analyzing AI service behavior, defining identification and control mechanisms, implementing solutions, and adding automated detection tests.
Diagnose and resolve performance and correctness issues in live inspection paths, addressing latency, throughput, memory pressure, and autoscaling.
Write and review architecture proposals and design documents.
Investigate complex production support cases requiring domain expertise.
Contribute to the team's AI-augmented development pipeline, defining autonomous processes and human gating points.

Requirements

5+ years of experience building production backend systems for Staff level, 7+ for Senior Staff.
Comfort with Kubernetes-deployed services and software deployed in customer environments.
Strong proficiency in Go or an adjacent systems-leaning language (Rust, C++, or similar) and willingness to be polyglot (Go, C/C++, Python).
Deep understanding of networking fundamentals: HTTP/HTTPS, forward-proxy behavior, TLS interception, DNS, TCP/IP, NAT, firewalls.
Hands-on production debugging experience with metrics, profiling, packet captures, and autoscaling.
Sufficient Linux internals knowledge (systemd, namespaces, networking) for debugging.
Demonstrated experience operating software in customer environments, including on-prem services and update mechanisms.
Demonstrated experience using an agent harness in engineering work and validating its output.
Excellent written communication skills for writing design documents.
