About the Role

This opportunity will play a pivotal role within the Financial Planning and Reporting team in one of the fastest growing financial institutions in Canada. The Senior Financial Analyst will use his or her financial modeling and analytical skills to develop scheduled and ad hoc reports that drive key management decisions. The candidate must be a quick learner who possesses strong communication, analytical and technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial models distributed to management monthly and quarterly.
  • Deliver business unit profit & loss reporting, deposit forecasting & pricing analyses, NIM Margin Analysis, and budget/forecasts.
  • Run detailed financial models, liaise with different business units, and extract/manipulate data from various sources.
  • Employ advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Nested IF Statements, VLOOKUP, OFFSET, SUMIFS, MATCH-INDEX) to build efficient and accurate financial models.
  • Define, scope, and implement enhancements to detailed financial models, including budgeting/forecasting tools.
  • Structure key processes and develop relevant background documentation to enhance efficiencies and manage risk.
  • Proactively identify improvements for technical accuracy, validation, and organization of financial models.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis requests with flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Collect, consolidate, and analyze financial data and key performance metrics from various sources for reporting requests.
  • Assist in other areas of the Accounting and Finance department and other business units as needed.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business preferred.
  • CFA/CPA designation completed or in process is preferred.
  • At least 4-5 years of progressive and relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability using MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including developing/running macros.
  • Ability to work extensively with formulas, numbers, and spreadsheets.
  • Experience utilizing technology to gather and manipulate data.
  • Experience using database query tools (e.g., SQL) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial statements and reporting is required.
  • Knowledge of financial modeling concepts is required.
  • Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities (multi-tasking).
  • Ability to work in both team and individual environments.
