Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities.
- Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
- Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and contribute to technology communities.
- Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
- Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
- Contribute to or set strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change.
- Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements.
- Advise key stakeholders on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment.
- Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organization functions to contribute to achieving business goals.
- Collaborate with other areas of work for business-aligned support.
- Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives.
- Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem-solving processes.
- Build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Considerable engineering background in Python and/or Java, with proficiency in both preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate deep expertise in one language with working competence in the other.
- Extensive experience with AWS, including services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, and IAM.
- Understanding of Kubernetes for deploying and operating containerized services in production environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts and experience integrating AI capabilities such as LLM APIs, embeddings, and retrieval patterns into software applications.
- Domain knowledge in Liquid Financing, including Prime Brokerage, Fixed Income Financing, Stock Borrow & Loan (SBL), or Custody business lines is highly valued.
- Experience working directly with Quants and Strats is highly valued.
- Familiarity with financial instruments, trade lifecycle, or risk systems in a front-office technology context is highly valued.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, message streaming (e.g. Kafka/MSK), or real-time data processing pipelines is highly valued.
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices and financial services regulatory or compliance technology requirements is highly valued.
- May be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.
