About the Role

Manage and supervise all engineering and administrative policies, procedures, and functions at a project level. Coordinate with project field operations to ensure information is delivered, understood, and implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of contract documents.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop engineering staff, including performance appraisals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, ethics, and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee communication of information among all project team members.
  • Establish and maintain procedures with design professionals, consultants, owner, and subcontractors for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, and payments.
  • Collaborate with Preconstruction, Estimating, and Purchasing on project budgets and lead preconstruction efforts.
  • Conduct construction document reviews, examining for constructability and QA/QC, and address concerns with design professionals.
  • Participate in studies, material/method recommendations, and cost estimates.
  • Prepare a detailed contract items list and develop trade scope of work documents for bid packages.
  • Prepare a procurement schedule for subcontractors and major purchases to ensure timely buy-outs and schedule compliance.
  • Manage the financial status of the project, including project status reports and financial report accuracy.
  • Schedule, conduct, and document job meetings, owner-architect meetings, and coordination meetings.
  • Manage the subcontract change order process, including review, negotiation, owner approvals, and preparation of change orders.
  • Manage project close-out, including securing warranties, acceptance of work, subcontract/vendor close-out, final payment, and records retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of eight years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and cost control procedures.
  • Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with various building systems.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to implement leading-edge technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean.
  • Demonstrated ability to thoroughly understand drawings, specifications, general contract and subcontract documents, materials, means, and methods.
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
