About the Role
The Perioperative Surgical Physician’s Assistant (PA)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide surgical assistance as part of a pool of surgical assistants. This role may involve patient-specific care within the scope of granted privileges, including Physician’s offices, inpatient floors, and the Emergency Department. The PA/NP will report to the Director of Perioperative Services and will be under the direct supervision of the surgeon of record when providing patient care. This position may involve participation in a call rotation for after-hours surgery assistance.
Responsibilities
- Provide surgical assistance as part of a pool of surgical assistants.
- Provide patient-specific care within the scope of granted privileges.
- Participate in a call rotation for after-hours surgery assistance.
Requirements
- Eligible for licensure in NYS as a Certified Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner.
- Three (3) years of clinical experience providing direct patient care is required.
- ACLS required.
- This is a bargaining union position.
Skills
- Clinical experience as a Certified Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner with RNFA is preferred.
- Experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner with RNFA will be considered first.
- Training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
