About the Role

This role is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team in order to manage work package(s) within the station delivery contract on behalf of the Project Client. This includes managing internal retained risk, interfaces, dependencies, and external stakeholders, while collaborating with the Supply Chain in the Integrated Project Teams (IPT) to ensure efficient delivery of assigned scope within budget, time, and quality.

Responsibilities

Fulfill the duties and obligations of the NEC3 Project Manager on behalf of the Project Client in accordance with assigned work packages.
Support the Project Director and Head of Delivery, leading a team of Project Managers in effectively and efficiently managing construction contracts.
Establish, monitor, and manage the delivery of consistent contract management, identifying and resolving emergent or systemic problems.
Establish, monitor, and manage the delivery of consistent design contract management, identifying and resolving emergent or integration problems with the multi-functional team.
Manage and monitor contract performance.
Review and accept programme schedules for assigned work packages.
Proactively manage risks and drive the mitigation of HS2 programme level risks.
Perform Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM) duties as delegated by the Client Representative.
Support the delivery of client-retained third-party works and services by acting as the interface with HS2 employees.
Support a collaborative culture that enables high performance by encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing between HS2, other Integrated Project Teams, and the supply chain.
Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all work, supporting and complying with all organisational initiatives, policies, and procedures on EDI.

Requirements

Experience of the entire project lifecycle including planning, procuring, developing, and implementing project activities.
Experience of testing and commissioning across complex technical integration projects, preferably within a complex buildings environment.
Experience of leading and managing people, and working across functions and disciplines to deliver complex objectives, preferably as part of a wider integrated programme of work.
Degree level qualification in project management, engineering, commercial management, or equivalent experience.
Ability to develop, plan, and integrate projects to optimize target costs, dependencies, risk management, and project benefits.
Ability to identify problems, review related information, manage the development and evaluation of options, and implement solutions, including managing and planning multiple workstreams and considering competing demands of stakeholders, cost, time, and quality.
Ability to identify, manage, gather, and synthesize necessary information and facilitate the identification of options and application of judgment based on logic and reason.
Ability to analyze inputs and assess data to assist in the development of strategies and document supporting rationales.
Ability to influence and negotiate with internal functions and external supply chain partners.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to resolve emergent risk situations.
Understanding of project management knowledge aligned to the level of APM Project Manager (advanced).
Understanding of the technical elements and architecture of the relevant scope of work within the overall HS2 programme, including interdependencies.
Understanding of the nature of relevant contract structures and the design and application of appropriate contract and supplier performance systems.
Understanding of risk identification and management.
Understanding of project schedule management, dependencies, and risk assessment.
