About the Role

Under the direction of the charge nurse, this role facilitates and coordinates patient services specific to the age of the patient population served in the Emergency Department. Ensures quality services are provided efficiently and safely, consistent with the unit's standards of care. Demonstrates performance aligned with the unit and organization's mission, philosophy, and goals, remaining flexible to changing systems. Expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and practice, treating staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and coordinates patient services specific to the age of the patient population served in the Emergency Department.
  • Ensures quality services are provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care.
  • Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization.
  • Remains flexible to changing systems.
  • Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and practice.
  • Treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years prior computer-data entry skills preferred.
  • Prior medical setting experience in physician office, hospital etc. preferred.
  • Long periods of sitting.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screen.
  • Some physical exertion assisting with patient transport.
  • Exposed to patient elements and handling of emergencies.
  • Exposed to the stress of emergency department activity and critical patient incidents.
  • Some manual skills/motor coordination & finger dexterity.
  • Little or no potential for occupational risk.
  • Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force.
  • Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
