About the Role

The Clinical Coordinator plans, schedules, and assigns nursing students to clinical rotations, provides faculty oversight, and coordinates clinical experiences. This role also involves public relations with clinical sites, seeking new placements, and improving scheduling and curriculum effectiveness. Additionally, the Coordinator teaches in the nursing program as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and assigns nursing students to each clinical rotation.
  • Provides ongoing clinical faculty oversight to clinical sites.
  • Coordinates clinical experiences.
  • Engages in public relations activities to maintain positive working relationships with clinical placement sites.
  • Actively seeks new clinical sites for future student placements.
  • Continuously improves scheduling and curriculum effectiveness.
  • Completes clinical call sheets during site visits.
  • Logs clinical call sheets into a Master Monthly Status Report.
  • Teaches in the nursing program as assigned by the Dean/Director of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered state licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current CPR certification as a health care provider.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • An unencumbered driver’s license.
  • Auto insurance with a copy on file in the business office.

Skills

  • Current clinical nursing knowledge and ongoing maintenance of clinical competency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through learning technologies such as computers and e-mail.
  • Ability to work effectively with clinical agencies, staff, faculty, and students as a member of a team.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of one year of didactic or clinical nursing teaching experience.
  • Minimum of three years of recent clinical experience.

Education Level

  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
