About the Role
This is a senior leadership opportunity to work with leading multinational organizations, shaping and delivering complex global tax compliance, reporting, managed services and transformation programmes. You will collaborate with EY teams across the UK, India and Continental Europe, with opportunities to support wider teams in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary and France. As part of this energetic and diverse team, you will lead international delivery teams, develop innovative client solutions and contribute directly to the continued growth of our Global Tax Managed Services practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex multinational tax compliance and reporting engagements, with responsibility for client relationships, service delivery, team leadership and commercial outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders across global organizations, acting as a senior point of contact for key engagement matters.
- Work with Partners and senior leadership to shape client strategy, manage delivery priorities, and resolve complex engagement issues.
- Provide strategic oversight of large global delivery teams, including junior colleagues and offshore team members.
- Set clear objectives and expectations for team members, supporting performance, coaching, and development across international teams.
- Manage engagement governance, quality, service levels, and escalation processes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Work with the Partner group to provide senior support on large pursuits and proposal activities in response to client RFPs.
- Lead global pricing exercises, contribute to strategic negotiation, and represent EY in client pitches and presentations.
- Own and drive your own sales pipeline across mid-sized and smaller pursuits.
- Support the client business case for change, including transformation and managed services opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for additional EY services and extensions to EY outsourcing services for existing clients.
- Contribute to innovative market-facing solutions that support the growth of the Global Tax Managed Services practice.
- Lead or oversee tax operating model, compliance process design and outsourced delivery initiatives for multinational clients.
- Manage changes to scope and resulting fee impact, including leading client and internal negotiations as needed.
- Review and suggest improvements to compliance and reporting processes, considering data sources, hand-off points, controls and technology enablement.
- Share successful tools, techniques and approaches with other team members and lead business development or methodology improvement projects.
- Help clients improve efficiency, control, and transparency across global tax compliance and reporting processes.
- Review budgets and resourcing requirements regularly, with responsibility for meeting margin targets across engagements.
- Lead the billing and cash collection process across your portfolio.
- Provide guidance to peers, colleagues and clients on contractual matters, including local fee and scope of negotiations.
- Ensure commercial discipline across engagements while maintaining strong client relationships and service quality.
- Support the Engagement Partner on all Quality & Risk Management (QRM) matters, overseeing implementation and adherence to agreed processes, procedures and timetables.
- Liaise with Global and Tax QRM and legal teams to resolve client service management issues.
- Maintain the specified contractual framework and supporting agreements for all engagements.
- Proactively manage service delivery risk through strong governance, issue management, and escalation processes.
Requirements
- Candidates from tax, finance transformation, managed services, outsourcing, shared service, programme management and professional services backgrounds.
- Experience in corporate tax, indirect tax or accountancy from a professional services firm or in-house team is beneficial.
- Senior candidates who bring strong commercial, transformation, leadership and stakeholder management experience.
- A degree level qualification or equivalent.
- A proven work record in a similar environment, ideally with experience leading complex engagements or programmes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage senior clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint capability.
- ACA, CA, ATT, CTA, Tax Inspectors qualification or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a tax specialist qualification would be welcome but is not essential.
- Proven project management skills, including the ability to plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and monitor budgets.
- A PRINCE2 qualification or similar would be beneficial.
- Experience managing international projects and teams across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience delivering change, transformation, or process improvement initiatives would beneficial.
- Experience in process and technology design is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong presentation skills and experience in developing and delivering major proposals to clients and targets.
- Strong client management skills and a commercial mindset.
