About the Role

The Compliance Business Partner supports the operations of the Compliance Department, providing strategic direction and ensuring regulatory compliance for assigned groups and supported business units. This role involves interacting with MFS management to resolve issues and leading policy development based on global regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Compliance and senior management to ensure business activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary contact for EMEA Sales and Distribution staff, providing sales practice compliance guidance and escalating issues as needed.
  • Stay updated on compliance-related rules and regulations, ensuring adherence through supervision and testing.
  • Implement compliance programs in collaboration with management to monitor and resolve compliance issues.
  • Implement changes to compliance monitoring programs, policies, procedures, manuals, training, and systems.
  • Identify and interact with key personnel at all levels to resolve complex compliance issues and provide input on policies and procedures.
  • Provide input to policies and procedures, and interact with internal and external programmers and developers on technology systems.
  • Lead projects for effective integration of departmental and corporate initiatives with workflows and processes.
  • Provide training on new and revised regulations and compliance policies to employees.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to the Compliance Department on systems-related issues and project development.
  • Operate as a liaison with other company systems areas.
  • Maintain records in conformity with regulatory and retention requirements.
  • Manage the review of compliance systems to validate their utility and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
  • Develop, review, and update procedures and controls within the group and other compliance functions.
  • Investigate potential breaches of compliance rules and conduct, identify regulatory issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform additional related responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent direct experience required.
  • Relevant experience within a Financial Services background preferred.
  • Ability to drive solutions throughout the organization and present ideas effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, collaborative problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills are essential.
  • Must be able to write effectively and present research, analysis, and conclusions persuasively.
  • Proven ability to develop and foster strong interpersonal relationships and maintain effective cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with outside parties at all organizational levels.
  • Strong presentation skills required; must be able to present comfortably before large groups (40+).
  • Experience in data structure and analysis is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with compliance and investment systems is desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Able to develop proficiency in MFS systems as required.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Make independent decisions, develop creative solutions, advocate for them, and manage implementation.
  • Assume ownership for project delivery while operating successfully in a cross-functional, international team environment.
  • Able to work overtime as necessary.
  • Some periodic domestic travel may be required.
