About the Role

As a Trading Standards Officer, you will play a pivotal role in upholding fair trading, product safety, and the protection of consumers and businesses. Your responsibilities will include leading effective investigations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and fostering partnerships with key agencies and organisations.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Trading Standards or Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards or equivalent DPCP/Board of Trade
  • Good understanding of and experience in trading standards and/or consumer protection work
  • Experience of managing and investigating complex casework
  • Experience of taking enforcement action for failure to comply with requirements of appropriate legislation and statutory notices
  • Full working knowledge of IPA including disclosure, CPIA, Regulator’s Code, PACE and Trading Standards legislative powers
