About the Role
Own and shape the Trust & Safety domain, leading product initiatives to prevent fraud, abuse, and harmful behavior while ensuring safety measures do not create unnecessary friction for legitimate users. Partner closely with cross-functional teams to turn complex trust problems into clear product strategies and measurable outcomes, evolving capabilities towards proactive, data-driven prevention.
Responsibilities
- Own product strategy and roadmap for key Trust & Safety capabilities related to content moderation, focusing on measurable improvements to customer safety and marketplace trust.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations using behavioral signals, rules, machine learning, and other detection capabilities.
- Design effective interventions across the customer journey, including verification, restrictions, blocking, escalation, and human review.
- Continuously improve Trust & Safety metrics, balancing prevention effectiveness with false positives, customer experience, operational cost, and business impact.
- Partner with Engineering and Data to develop scalable risk detection and decisioning capabilities and make pragmatic build-versus-buy and MVP-versus-target-state decisions.
- Work closely with Customer Service and Operations to improve investigation, moderation, and case-management tooling and reduce unnecessary manual work.
- Translate regulatory, policy, and operational requirements into scalable product capabilities in partnership with Legal and Policy stakeholders.
- Lead discovery across customer journeys and product areas, identify emerging risks, validate potential solutions, and turn insights into clear product requirements and priorities.
- Measure the impact of Trust & Safety interventions, learn from incidents and experiments, and continuously adapt the product strategy as fraud and abuse patterns evolve.
- Act as a senior product voice for Trust & Safety, helping teams across Kleinanzeigen incorporate trust, safety, and abuse prevention into their own product decisions.
- Report to the Head of Product - Trust Platform Area.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager for digital products at a senior level.
- Experience in complex marketplace, platform, Trust & Safety, fraud prevention, identity, moderation, cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong product discovery and strategy skills, able to turn ambiguous customer and business problems into clear priorities, hypotheses, and measurable outcomes.
- Highly data-driven, with experience defining product metrics, analyzing behavioral signals, and using data to make prioritization and investment decisions.
- Experience working closely with Engineering and Data Science on technical products involving rules engines, risk models, machine learning, automation, or similar decisioning systems.
- Proven ability to balance competing outcomes such as customer safety, false positives, user friction, operational effort, and business impact.
- Strong people skills, able to align Product, Engineering, Customer Service, Legal, Privacy, and leadership around difficult trade-offs and shared priorities.
- Experience influencing product areas and customer journeys beyond your immediate team and driving initiatives across organizational boundaries.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain complex trust and risk topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fluent in English.
- German is a strong plus.
