About the Role

Provide comprehensive legal advice and support for ABB's U.S. operations, focusing on fiduciary aspects, corporate law, compliance, contract negotiation, and risk management. This role involves making corporate legal filings, mitigating risks, facilitating governance, supporting leadership, and driving business growth while ensuring compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end accountability for Legal & Integrity fiduciary duties, corporate governance, and compliance for all U.S. legal entities.
  • Manage corporate secretarial services, regulatory filings, and contractor licensing.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the U.S. Country Holding Officer and senior management on governance, compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic legal matters.
  • Oversee integrity investigations, government contracting compliance, data privacy and protection, cybersecurity, and regulatory certifications.
  • Ensure alignment with internal audit, HSE, and risk management standards across all business areas.
  • Provide expert counsel on contracts, commercial agreements, and shared legal entity matters.
  • Harmonize legal processes while supporting BA-specific needs.
  • Supervise paralegal staff and collaborate with global Legal & Integrity centers of excellence.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school with active bar admission.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in corporate/commercial law.
  • Experience gained in multinational manufacturing/corporate environments and/or top-tier law firms.
  • Proven ability to manage fiduciary responsibilities and corporate governance.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a decentralized organization.
  • Strong business-focused legal judgment.
  • Experience in process improvement, risk mitigation, and optimization of legal operations.
  • Proficiency in contract review, drafting, and negotiation.
  • Experience with mergers & acquisitions.
  • Experience with corporate secretarial functions, including filings and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of data privacy and protection laws.
  • Knowledge of U.S. government contracting and contractor licensing.
  • Familiarity with finance, treasury, and risk management/insurance.
  • Preferred experience in antitrust, IP, and IS/IT-related legal matters.
  • Must have work authorization permitting employment in the U.S.
