About the Role
The Group Financial Reporting team is responsible for preparing the Group's financial statements, working with external auditors, and overseeing statutory accounts. This role focuses on technical accounting matters and external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, insight, and compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex areas of the Group's financial statements and disclosures.
- Prepare plc’s accounts in accordance with FRS 102 and Companies Act.
- Contribute to quality control and consistency reviews of financial reports and presentations.
- Liaise with external auditors for successful year-end audits and half-year reviews.
- Determine requirements and lead the collection of year-end supplementary disclosures.
- Review working papers prepared by team members.
- Prepare technical areas of financial statements, including share-based payments.
- Draft accounting papers on key accounting matters and judgments.
- Maintain and enhance control activities for technical accounting, ensuring compliance with IFRS, FRS 102, and Group policies.
- Review and prepare UK subsidiary statutory accounts.
- Review overseas subsidiaries’ statutory accounts and reconcile to Group Consolidation system.
- Review and prepare the calculation of fair value for share-based payment arrangements.
- Assist with IFRS 16 accounting and lease management system usage.
- Review complex accounting transactions and non-recurring items for consistent application of policies.
- Review UK holding companies’ trial balances, monthly submissions, and forecasts.
- Provide support to the Group Finance team with technical accounting questions on the Group rolling forecast.
- Provide or review forecasts for specific areas like share-based payments and leases.
- Lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate the review and governance of significant accounting judgments and estimates.
- Deliver training to global finance teams on accounting standards.
- Maintain and update the Group Finance Manual.
- Act as a system administrator for Group consolidation and planning systems (OneStream).
- Answer user queries regarding the OneStream system.
- Act as system administrator and main point of contact for the lease management system.
- Train new users on the lease management system.
- Prepare and present technical accounting papers and financial reporting updates to senior management and the Audit Committee.
- Assist with purchase price allocations for acquisitions.
- Assist with providing advice on accounting for Group reorganisations.
- Support projects including business and systems transformation.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant.
- Strong accounting technical skills with in-depth understanding of IFRS, FRS 102, and UK Companies Act from an international Group perspective.
- Detailed working knowledge of IFRS 2, various valuation models, and their application to share-based payment arrangements.
- Track record of managing external audits to timely completion.
- Self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude.
- Proven ability to work under time pressure to tight deadlines.
- Excellent IT skills, especially Excel.
- Experience of consolidation systems e.g. OneStream.
- Proactive desire to add value and improve existing processes.
- Ability to think of a variety of different solutions.
- Dynamic attitude toward future development – eager to progress and invest in own future and development.
