About the Role
CAA Stellar is a world-leading sports agency seeking a proactive and high-energy Accounts Assistant to join their fast-paced finance team. This role offers broad exposure to a varied accounting function, with opportunities for skill development and progression towards an Assistant Accountant position. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with daily transactions and international compliance, and possess experience in a similar fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounts and support team objectives, reporting to the Financial Controller.
- Provide day-to-day operational support to the Management Accountant.
- Assist the Management Accountant with month-end closing procedures.
- Process daily bank transactions and maintain up-to-date bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and post routine journals, including prepayments, accruals, and lease journals.
- Prepare trial balances from overseas entities and upload them as journals into SAP.
- Support the reconciliation of specific balance sheet accounts, taking ownership as experience grows.
- Manage intercompany accounts between CAA entities and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing quarterly VAT returns and conduct monthly VAT reviews.
- Support the daily management of ledgers and local compliance for European entities.
- Prepare schedules and reconciliations for the year-end audit.
- Provide general support for the year-end audit.
Requirements
- AAT Level 2 or 3, bookkeeping/accounting qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Actively studying towards a recognised qualification (e.g., ACCA).
- 1-2 years of experience in a finance or accounts environment, including transaction processing and general accounting tasks.
- Good understanding of basic double-entry bookkeeping.
- Interest in developing a broader understanding of accounting and financial processes.
- Experience preparing VAT returns with a basic understanding of VAT principles.
- Organized, proactive, and willing to take ownership of tasks.
- Experience using an accounting system or ERP software.
- Good Excel skills, comfortable working with spreadsheets.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- A positive, collaborative, and can-do attitude with a willingness to learn.
