About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Information Security to protect Regent’s University London. You will own the institution’s security posture, risk and policy, and will hold the rest of the organisation to account for compliance, setting expectations and outlining remediation. You will lead a lean cyber function through influence and relationships, reserving formal authority for the moments that need it. You will also deliver Professionalise Security: a single 360 security-first strategy that integrates cyber, privacy and continuity, and carries Regent’s through the parent group’s security tiers. In addition, you will co-chair the Data Privacy and Information Security Group, will work closely with the Data Protection Officer, and will be the sole IT security voice in governance forums.

Responsibilities

  • Own the institution’s security posture, risk and policy.
  • Hold the organisation to account for compliance, setting expectations and outlining remediation.
  • Lead a lean cyber function through influence and relationships.
  • Deliver Professionalise Security: a single 360 security-first strategy that integrates cyber, privacy and continuity.
  • Co-chair the Data Privacy and Information Security Group.
  • Work closely with the Data Protection Officer.
  • Act as the sole IT security voice in governance forums.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing security posture, risk and policy in a complex organisation.
  • Background of leading, developing and motivating a team.
  • Experience of achieving and maintaining recognised certifications and compliance regimes (such as Cyber Essentials Plus and PCI DSS for card-payment environments).
  • Experience in running organisation-wide security education and awareness programmes.
  • An engaging people leader who wins support through influence, trust and relationships across teams.
  • Calm and authoritative in an incident.
  • Able to hold senior colleagues to account constructively.
  • Provide a current CV.
  • Provide a cover letter/statement outlining suitability for the role, referencing skills and experience against the person specification.

  • £66,731 - £80,617 per annum
