About the Role
As a Transport Operations Manager, you will play a central role at the interface between production and delivery. You will be responsible for the smooth and data-based control of our middle-mile transports between our two production sites, the internal last-mile network, and external partners in the DACH region. You will maintain an overview even in short-term challenges and find quick, pragmatic solutions to keep our supply chain running reliably. You will also continuously optimize our operational processes, thereby sustainably increasing the efficiency and reliability of our transports. Please note that this position is limited to 24 months (a subsequent permanent position is aimed for).
Responsibilities
- Strategic planning and monitoring of all middle-mile transports with the goal of ensuring a smooth flow of goods from the production sites directly to the logistics hubs.
- Use and further development of existing IT solutions for transport planning, as well as active contribution of expertise for further automation and optimization of systems and processes.
- Close cooperation with external transport service providers and internal specialist departments as a central interface for coordinating all parties involved and for quick clarification and resolution of operational deviations.
- Proactive management of unexpected bottlenecks and critical logistical challenges through the development and implementation of pragmatic ad-hoc solutions.
- Creation of detailed, data-based performance evaluations and transport plans for the assessment, control, and continuous improvement of transport partner performance.
- Continuous further development of planning processes through independent identification of inefficiencies and development and implementation of intelligent and scalable improvements.
Requirements
- Completed studies in logistics, supply chain management, or a comparable field, as well as several years of practical experience in transport management, ideally in a dynamic environment or in fresh logistics.
- Sound experience in working with large CEP service providers (courier, express, and parcel services) as well as leading forwarding partners.
- Confident use of Transport Management Systems (TMS) as well as advanced knowledge of MS Office / Google Workspace, especially Excel, Power Query, and Pivot Tables, for data-based analysis and decision-making.
- Solution-oriented, structured way of working, as well as decisiveness and confidence, even in stressful situations.
- Calm and proactive approach, even in dynamic or time-critical situations, strong decision-making ability, and a keen interest in continuous process optimization.
- Willingness to work on Saturdays and public holidays.
- Fluent German (min. C1 level) and good English skills (min. B2 level).
