About the Role

We are seeking individuals to join our apprenticeship program as a Mechatronics Technician with the opportunity for further training as a Certified Power Plant Operator. This program offers a comprehensive 3.5-year apprenticeship followed by a 1.5-year advanced training, leading to a role as a Power Plant Operator after a total of 5 years. The training includes a theoretical component that may take place outside of Berlin or online.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair machinery.
  • Participate in the continuous optimization of power plant processes.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair mechatronic systems.
  • Install electrical circuits and assemblies.
  • Assemble and disassemble machines, systems, and plants.
  • Identify and resolve faults and malfunctions in mechatronic systems.
  • Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Install, test, and use PC hardware and software.
  • Provide customer support and manage quality.
  • Take responsibility for the operation of power plant facilities.
  • Work in modern control rooms.
  • Contribute to the security of electricity and district heating supply for Berlin.
  • Work in a competent team and actively support the energy transition.
  • Support the transformation of facilities, including the replacement of fossil fuels.
  • Operate new, modern facilities in an environment of continuous transformation.
  • Work in a modern and digital work environment within power plant control rooms.
  • Participate in the introduction and development of solutions in Virtual Reality, AI, and robotics.
  • Operate Berlin's district heating network using state-of-the-art technology.
  • Work in an ergonomically designed workspace with optimal lighting and acoustics.

Requirements

  • Good school leaving certificate.
  • Good German language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Manual dexterity, as well as electronic and logical understanding.
  • Communication and teamwork skills.
  • Good color perception.
  • Willingness to work shifts.
  • Submit complete application documents, including cover letter, CV, and final certificate or last two school reports.
