About the Role

As an end-to-end owner for the product domain within the Next Generation Business Division, you will be responsible for everything from concept and strategy development to launch, improvement, and performance measurement. You will decide what to build, why it's important, and how to measure success. The division is in its early stages, and new businesses like Wanderland are still being defined. You are expected to lead the overall product experience, form hypotheses quickly, argue with evidence, and pivot just as fast if data proves you wrong. You will drive the entire product lifecycle, make difficult decisions including prioritization, pivoting, and cancellations, and lead and motivate cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and business partners to deliver the product.

Responsibilities

  • Product domain ownership: Define the roadmap and KPIs for the assigned business (new businesses like Wanderland), prioritize based on user value and business impact, and be accountable for results.
  • Discovery/Definition: Conduct user research and market analysis to identify opportunities, translating them into specifications, user stories, and prioritized backlogs.
  • Development Promotion: Collaborate daily with engineers and designers, leading sprint planning, implementation, and improvements throughout the entire product lifecycle from concept and prototype to testing, full release, and iteration.
  • Quality and Reliability: Define and measure the 'goodness' of the core product experience (accuracy, usability, safety, reliability).
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Monitor engagement and retention metrics, conduct experiments, and make decisions to cancel, change, or invest based on results, including documenting the rationale.
  • Cross-Functional Consensus Building: Collaborate with BD, Sales, and other departments to release products that are not only technically feasible but also commercially viable.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience.
  • Proven track record of owning consumer product domains from definition to launch and improvement.
  • Experience with the Japanese market is a plus.
  • Proficiency in defining metrics, designing experiments, and analyzing data using tools. Ability to use numbers to reach conclusions, not just to embellish them.
  • Daily use of generative AI tools to accelerate research, prioritization, and execution. Understanding of current limitations and ability to verify outputs rather than accepting them at face value.
  • Ability to discuss trade-offs, constraints, and development processes with engineers on equal footing.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
