About the Role
This newly created fixed-term contract role is at the forefront of Tyro's shift toward AI-powered quality engineering. The position exists to work with the broader Quality Engineering team to build what comes next, collectively reshaping how quality is achieved across the organization through intelligent, agent-driven tooling. This role combines hands-on delivery with curiosity, learning, and continuous improvement, supporting the move away from manual testing towards AI-enabled tools for more efficient and consistent Quality Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Working with Quality Engineers and Developers to understand and build test scenarios and test cases.
- Design, build and help maintain test automation suites for our services.
- Review test coverage and identify deficiencies in existing test scenarios, increasing coverage where required.
- Ensure testing and quality checks are appropriately applied across our services.
- Execute functional and non-functional testing activities as required to support delivery quality, regardless of whether they are performed manually or through automation.
- Work with developers to understand and resolve pain points in test data and automation.
- Improve test and quality assessment capabilities, tooling and processes.
- Experience with non-functional testing such as performance, accessibility and security.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across Technology and broader business teams to support shared understanding of quality risks, priorities and delivery outcomes.
- Work hands-on with AI agents (e.g. Rovo Agents, Rovo Dev) to analyse code changes against requirements, and to author and generate test scripts and test cases.
- Direct and prompt AI tooling effectively to translate functional, non-functional and end-to-end requirements into accurate test coverage.
- Maintain and continuously improve the AI knowledge base underpinning the QE ecosystem — including test definitions, regression and smoke suites, performance test definitions, test data requirements and pen testing definitions.
- Support the self-evolving test suite process: identify new or changing test patterns and feed them back into the knowledge base so automated test generation improves over time.
- Analyse AI-assisted test results and defect feedback loops, distinguishing genuine defects from tests requiring evolution, and route fixes back through the appropriate channels.
- Contribute to test data management practices, identifying whether existing test data is sufficient and creating or purging data as required.
- Support the evaluation and future adoption of in-house penetration testing capability.
- Champion and help upskill the wider Quality Engineering team in effective use of AI-assisted testing tools and practices.
Requirements
- Solid foundation in quality engineering and a willingness to keep building capability across functional and non-functional testing.
- Support the use of agentic solutions throughout the quality lifecycle, including helping analyse code changes against requirements, generating test scripts and test cases, and contributing to the feedback loop between defect detection and test improvement.
- Work with the broader Quality Engineering team to help maintain and improve the knowledge base that supports this ecosystem, making it more accurate, useful and reliable over time.
- Apply systems-thinking skills to identify how changes might adversely impact the overall platform.
- Know how to apply leading DevOps practices like continuous integration, continuous deployment and automated test frameworks.
- Experience with bug-prevention, testability, accessibility, privacy and other advanced quality concepts is desired.
- Demonstrated experience with, or strong working knowledge of, AI-assisted or agentic development/testing tools (e.g. Rovo Agents, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar).
- Ability to write effective prompts and direct AI agents to produce reliable, high-quality test scripts and test cases.
- Understanding of how AI/LLM-based tooling can be applied to code-change analysis, test generation, defect triage and continuously evolving test knowledge bases.
- A formal AI/ML qualification, certification, or demonstrated self-directed learning in AI is highly regarded.
- Genuine curiosity for how AI is reshaping quality engineering, and a proactive approach to experimenting with and adopting new AI tooling.
- Payments experience is highly desirable.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, yet autonomous environment.
- A hardworking, hungry-to-learn attitude will help you succeed in this role.
