About the Role

Manage and develop licensing business in publishing/digital category, including physical/digital publishing, learning products, and digital products, leveraging Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, 20th Century, and National Geographic properties. Identify market requirements, suitable products, optimal launch timing, business models, and expert licensees/partners. Negotiate deals and manage product and marketing approvals.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and grow the business with sales targets.
  • Analyze market conditions to identify trends and key success factors.
  • Propose new ideas to licensees or new business partners and lead deal negotiations.
  • Develop Annual Operating Plan/5-year Plan forecasts with licensees, ensuring goals are met.
  • Manage daily interactions with licensees.
  • Oversee contract negotiations.
  • Provide sales updates, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Document minutes of key meetings and negotiations.
  • Manage product and marketing approvals.
  • Propose new products and content.
  • Develop strategic plans addressing short-term and long-term market opportunities and risks.
  • Communicate with global and local counterparts regarding product and concept availability.
  • Regularly report business progress to the Director and provide ad hoc reports.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in publishing, digital, or IP business.
  • Sales experience in publishing or licensing is preferred.
  • Product development experience in publishing or digital categories is preferred.
  • New business development experience.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience with 3+ stakeholders.
  • IP and rights management experience.
  • Native level fluency in Japanese and business-level English (written and spoken) are required.
  • Demonstrate commitment, responsibility, and passion for business responsibilities.
  • Understand company priorities and how responsibilities align with them.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal relationships.
