About the Role
The HD Services Application Engineering Technical Leader acts as the responsible authority and interface with Sales and Commercial Operations for all CM&U proposals, including complex and extended scope upgrade projects involving gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and plant BOP upgrades during the Pre ITO/ITO phase for the Asia region.
Responsibilities
- Define Gas Turbine/Combine Cycle Plant upgrade solutions to fulfill customer KPIs during the ITO phase, meeting customer bid need dates.
- Manage RAE team deliverables from a techno-commercial standpoint.
- Act as a strategic partner to the regional sales team and participate in proposal strategy development.
- Develop holistic, plant-wide solutions for complex and extended scope projects, managing technical integration and interfaces.
- Lead project risk reviews, mitigate technical risks during ITO, and plan for residual risks during OTR.
- Lead customer technical discussions and serve as the engineering single point of contact.
- Assess the impact of GT upgrades on downstream equipment performance and life, conducting feasibility checks and providing reports.
- Interface with engineering functions to assess the possibility of retrofitting non-GEV parts.
- Address technical issues impacting GEV supplied equipment compliance with customer/project requirements.
- Process Cost & Shipment Estimates to define scope, price, and schedule impacts for special/non-standard scope and options.
- Provide detailed comments and exceptions to customer specifications for inclusion in the GEV proposal.
- Participate in customer technical clarification meetings.
- Provide technical direction for proposals based on agreements with Commercial Operations and interpretation of upgrade requirements.
- Achieve agreement with Commercial Operations, Projects, etc., on scope of supply and internal responsibility.
- Ensure accurate plant/product definition, configuration, and equipment requirements that meet customer and contractual needs.
- Lead Technical Proposal Review page-turns and collaborate with deal teams to handle deviations.
- Initiate required product and project technical requests to Engineering for sign-off using appropriate tools.
- Champion LEAN principles and actively participate in continuous improvement of ITO engineering processes and deliverables.
Requirements
- B.Tech/M.Tech Mechanical Engineering from an Institute of repute.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in gas turbine-based power plants, including system design, performance, and cost evaluation.
- Strong understanding of gas turbine upgrades offerings and their impact on steam turbines, generators, and plant BOP and their upgrades.
- Exposure to developing solutions and working on complex/extended scope upgrade projects.
- Global mindset with a willingness to understand different cultures and work collaboratively.
- Direct customer interface experience.
- Effective time management skills and multitasking ability.
- Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills.
