About the Role
This role is responsible for managing the financial accounting, reporting, and analysis of capital spend and development activity within Retirement Villages Group. The position supports decision-making across the company's portfolio by providing financial insights and collaborating with Development and Finance teams. It is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant seeking to enhance processes and build cross-functional relationships.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the Group Fixed Asset Register, including property assets, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and plant & machinery.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation, ensuring accurate reconciliation of the Fixed Asset Register to the finance system.
- Prepare capital reporting for monthly management accounts, including analysis of new home profitability.
- Monitor and report on spend across development projects, including budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Prepare month-end journals and reconciliations for development entities (stock, capital projects, bank reconciliations, intercompany balances, accruals, prepayments).
- Support the preparation of balance sheet and P&L reporting for development companies.
- Calculate and track transfer margins between Group entities and related consolidation eliminations.
- Monitor the performance of new home sales and rental units, providing challenge and insight.
- Partner with the Development team, providing financial analysis and commercial support.
- Collaborate with FP&A to ensure marketing spend for new developments is appropriately budgeted and monitored.
- Prepare audit packs for development entities and support with audit queries and analysis.
- Build strong working relationships across Finance and Development.
- Contribute to wider finance, systems, and business transformation projects.
Requirements
- Experience in a management accounting or similar finance role, ideally within a property, development, construction, or capital-intensive environment.
- Part-qualified status or working towards CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
- Strong Excel skills, including XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, and PivotTables.
- Strong systems skills and an interest in improving processes and ways of working.
- Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to managing deadlines.
- Confidence to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
- A collaborative, personable approach with the ability to build effective relationships across a business.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude and willingness to get involved and solve problems.
