About the Role
Responsible for underwriting a portion of the property book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, expense goals, and premium growth while simultaneously executing proper underwriting discipline/guidelines, marketing, and servicing of existing and potential clients.
Responsibilities
- Compliance with underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures.
- General underwriting functions including submission review, pricing analysis, setting of terms and conditions, and quote/binder/invoice authorizations.
- Liaise with Claims Department on specific claims activity that could affect profitability.
- Maintain consistency with Internal Audit department procedures and achieve compliance with all underwriting and administrative guidelines.
- Marketing activities including attending client/broker meetings and meeting with key producers regularly.
- Follow treaty and facultative reinsurance protocols.
- Stay current with major industry issues and developments.
- Provide specific reports as needed by senior staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of industry experience, property preferred
- Solid Writing and Communication Skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Ability to think originally, challenge ideas, and be receptive to having their own ideas challenged.
