About the Role

This role is responsible for overseeing relationship management and sales performance for the functions component of the House Venues contract, and for developing and implementing the sales strategy for Sydney Opera House functions. The Business Development and Sales Manager will optimize revenue within the private events venue hire 'stock' by aligning with the strategic goals of the Visitor Experience and Engagement portfolio. The role also oversees proactive and reactive sales activities of the sales team by monitoring and producing sales analysis to help identify commercial activities that meet targets, while ensuring supporting marketing activity is delivered.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee relationship management and sales performance for the functions component of the House Venues contract.
  • Develop and implement the sales strategy of Sydney Opera House functions.
  • Optimize revenue within private events venue hire by aligning with strategic goals.
  • Oversee proactive and reactive sales activities of the sales team.
  • Monitor and produce sales analysis to identify commercial activities that meet targets.
  • Ensure supporting marketing activity is delivered.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or substantial industry experience, supported by a proven track record in middle management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of venue sales and booking processes, with the ability to contribute to sales targets and budget outcomes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in function and event delivery, ensuring seamless planning, coordination, and execution.
  • Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills in fast-paced operational environments.
  • Highly developed organisational, administrative, and time management abilities.
  • Collaborative approach to working across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Existing Australian work rights.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check.
  • Satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Assessment.

Salary/Compensations

  • Base salary of $105,855 per annum plus 12% Superannuation Contributions
