About the Role

Counseling In Schools (CIS) is seeking energetic, dependable, and youth-centered Substitute Activity Specialists to support NYC after-school programs for students in grades K–8 during the 2026–2027 school year. Specialists will lead engaging enrichment activities and provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leading engaging enrichment activities and lessons
  • Supporting youth development, SEL, and positive behavior management
  • Creating safe, inclusive, and engaging environments for students
  • Collaborating with after-school staff and program leadership
  • Maintaining professionalism and positive communication with students, families, and school staff

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth
  • Experience or training in a specialty area preferred
  • Strong communication and classroom/group management skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and support diverse student needs
  • DOE and DOH clearance required
