About the Role
Stern Cohen LLP is seeking a full-time Junior/Intermediate Accountant to join the Firm’s Assurance Team. The role focuses mainly on assurance, compilations, and tax engagements, reporting directly to managers and interacting with partners, staff, and clients.
Responsibilities
- Perform audit and review engagements, including preparation and completion of planning documents and financial statements.
- Identify accounting issues and collaborate with management/partners to develop solutions.
- Prepare compilation engagements for owner-managed businesses across various industries.
- Prepare personal and corporate tax returns, related checklists, and additional tax filings.
- Communicate with clients, understand their businesses, and proactively address their needs within budget and timelines.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and updates.
- Contribute to firm growth and community initiatives.
Requirements
- CPA designation or actively pursuing completion.
- 2-3 years of progressive experience in a public accounting practice.
- Experience with mid-market, small business, or entrepreneurial clients is preferred.
- Dedication to client service excellence and a drive to understand client businesses.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid understanding of business professionalism and teamwork.
- Proficiency in accounting software, including Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office (Excel).
