About the Role
Under general guidance, this role assists in diverse matters affecting day-to-day business operations by advising, investigating, researching, and resolving legal matters within corporate legal policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The role focuses on intellectual property law, licensing, servicing, vendor/supply procurement of technology services and products, regulatory/compliance, and general corporate matters, requiring originality, ingenuity, and problem-solving ability.
Responsibilities
- Assists in diverse matters affecting day-to-day business operations by advising, investigating, researching, and resolving legal matters.
- Ensures company personnel are aware of and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Keeps informed of changes in legislation or regulations that impact the company.
- Assists with the drafting and negotiating of basic to moderately complex agreements.
- Assists with the review of legal documents.
- Participates in negotiations with customers and third parties.
- Assists with the preparation and recommendation of legal documents by analyzing, drafting, negotiating, and reviewing these documents.
- Assists with the investigation and management of claims by and against the organization.
- May conduct interviews, prepare reports, responses to interrogatories, litigation, and pretrial works.
- Assists in managing the legal aspect of contract negotiations.
- Assists outside counsel on major contracts.
- Assists with reviewing and preparing responses to insurance coverage requirements requested contractually by customers and third parties.
- Assists in planning and directing corporate legal guidance and counsel on all Intellectual property matters.
- Assists with the development of up-to-date knowledge in areas of special interest to the company, including intellectual property, software licensing issues, international and domestic contract law, privacy, data protection, financial services, insurance issues, general corporate matters, servicing, vendor procurement, and other issues affecting outsourcing of financial and payments related services.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor Degree
- Graduate of accredited law school (including all other necessary prerequisites for gaining licensure to practice law)
- Maintaining qualifications and licensure throughout employment
- Typically Minimum 6 Years Relevant Exp
- Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve moderately complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- Having ownership of a sub-function, account or matrix management responsibilities, applies knowledge to meet goals, maintain relationships, propose opportunities to expand the business, and lead matrix teams.
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
- Builds on/Maintains external relationships of assigned accounts.
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead).
