About the Role

The Thomas Yoseloff Business Center at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL) seeks a collaborative, engaged Part-time Business Projects Coordinator with planning skills to coordinate various business and finance programs, including tax preparation programs, for a diverse body of library users at the Business Center and NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and implementation of various business and finance initiatives across the Library, including annual tax preparation programming in branch libraries.
  • Support the development of the Library’s online information and informational resources related to business and finance programming, including tax preparation programs in branch libraries.
  • Helps to develop and maintain community partnerships that align with business and finance programming, including tax preparation programs in branch libraries.
  • Coordinates logistics and promotional materials for business and finance programs, including tax preparation programs in NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
  • Coordinates the contracting for business and finance programming, in collaboration with Legal and Procurement.
  • Supports the creation of staff-facing messaging and resources for participating branches and all staff.
  • Assists with marketing programs in partnership with the Business Center Team, as well as Communications & Marketing.
  • Supports the Business Center’s Small Business and Finance Teams in the planning and execution of outreach activities and all-day events such as Financial Planning Day and Small Business Day at the Business Center and Branch Library locations in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
  • Troubleshoot programmatic and logistical issues with partners and branch staff.
  • Maintain a database of trusted partners/potential vendors for business and financial programming for NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
  • Works as part of a team to provide public service and assist with outreach activities in business and finance at the Business Center and NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
  • Assists patrons with the use of computers and other technology or software for business and finance programs and classes at the Business Center and NYPL Branch Libraries in Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
  • Supports business and finance programs, both in-person and through remote platforms such as Google Meet and Zoom.
  • Performs related duties and works on special projects as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of business experience gained through owning or managing a small business.
  • 5+ of outreach experience, including promotional activities for events, for a business agency, a small business, or a non-profit institution/agency.
  • 2+ of demonstrated experience training/teaching small business owners a variety of business topics, such as marketing, compiling business research, financing, accounting, sales, etc.
  • Strong coordination abilities, including demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate, communicate ideas, build consensus, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively across a range of projects, both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Outreach experience, including promotional activities for events.
  • Demonstrated experience with adult community outreach and events.
  • May require travel within NYC.
  • This onsite role involves active participation in the Business Center’s operations and requires a presence within the Department to foster strong relationships with staff and the community.
  • Lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Sitting and standing for periods of time.
  • Daily use of a computer.
  • Travel around NYC required.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Drupal preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer services, including online searching and Library resources, preferred.
