About the Role

Ironsite is seeking its first Mechanical Global Supply Manager to lead the sourcing and supply chain strategy for the company's hardware. This role involves owning the mechanical commodity strategy for a first-generation product in a fast-paced market with existing customers and a growing hardware roadmap. The position reports into the Supply Chain function and collaborates closely with Hardware Engineering, Operations, and Finance. As an early hire in supply chain, this individual will establish standards for supplier base development, negotiation, risk management, and production scaling.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a global commodity strategy for mechanical components, including CNC-machined parts, die castings, sheet metal, injection-molded plastics, and electromechanical assemblies.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers based on cost, quality, and lead time targets.
Lead RFQ and RFP processes and drive competitive bidding across the supply base.
Own the supplier relationship from selection through lifecycle management.
Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers (QBRs) and establish engagement cadences.
Drive supplier development programs and corrective actions.
Own supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
Lead capacity planning, dual-sourcing, and risk mitigation for long-lead and critical parts.
Resolve supply disruptions decisively and prevent recurrence.
Negotiate long-term supply agreements, pricing, and terms.
Drive cost reductions through design collaboration, process optimization, and commercial negotiations.
Define tooling strategies, capacity investments, and ramp plans with suppliers.
Align with engineering on DFM during NPI.
Align closely with operations and planning on capacity and delivery performance.
Support escalations related to supply disruptions or shortages.
Ensure supply assurance by driving necessary and timely action for potential supply issues.

Requirements

5-8+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or commodity management, ideally at a hardware company scaling from early production to volume.
Deep experience with mechanical manufacturing processes: machining, casting, stamping, sheet metal, injection molding, and related processes.
Demonstrated expertise managing Asia-based suppliers, including on-site engagement and supplier development.
Experience working with a global supply base at the executive level, and holding suppliers accountable to commitments.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Comfort with international travel, requiring meaningful time on the ground with suppliers overseas.
Proficiency with PLM systems (Arena, Propel, or similar).
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment.
Experience with battery pack and optical subassemblies is strongly preferred.
Prior experience as an early supply chain hire at a hardware startup that scaled from early volumes to full production is strongly preferred.
Ability to generate clear and concise updates to all levels of internal and external stakeholders, including at the executive level, is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated expertise managing cross-functional and international resources to achieve objectives on time and on budget is strongly preferred.
Mandarin or Vietnamese language proficiency is a nice to have.
Experience with consumer electronics, wearables, or ruggedized hardware programs is a nice to have.
Familiarity with contract manufacturing partners in Taiwan, mainland China, or Southeast Asia is a nice to have.
