About the Role
Assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, aid in the delivery of pharmacy services, and maintain pharmacy operations while providing superior customer service.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and gather prescription information.
- Perform duties according to the assigned Role Assignment Schedule.
- Refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist.
- Dispense prescription medications accurately.
- Handle third-party adjudication as required.
- Set realistic customer expectations for wait times.
- Locate and cash out prescriptions and ancillary items.
- Refer customers requiring counseling to the Pharmacist.
- Maintain and control the cash register in the dispensary.
- Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy requirements.
- Receive new and repeat prescription orders according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
- Adjudicate and manage third-party billing and accounts.
- Answer the telephone and refer to a pharmacist when necessary.
- Manage incoming faxes according to Pharmacy Standards of Practice.
- File completed documentation accurately as per Pharmacy Standards of Practice.
- Assist in prescription preparation to company standards and professional services.
- Perform data entry for new prescriptions and manage refill request processing.
- Select medications to fill prescriptions according to Pharmacy Standards of Practice.
- Count or measure, package, and label prescriptions efficiently and accurately.
- Accurately enter and maintain appropriate data within applicable Pharmacy systems.
Requirements
- Registered with the corresponding provincial licensing college.
- Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician College.
- Previous Pharmacy Experience preferred.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask.
