About the Role

Harmony Healthcare Long Island is a non-profit healthcare organization with 7 health centers, providing primary care and preventative medicine. Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient preparation before practitioner visits.
  • Supports practitioners with patient care during clinical examinations and material preparation (e.g., dressing changes, Pap smears).
  • Translates for patients as needed.
  • Takes vital signs, administers tuberculin tests, and performs specimen collection procedures, routine eye screening, hearing tests, hematocrit, urinalysis, and urine culture.
  • Performs EKGs and simple laboratory procedures.
  • Distributes lab reports to practitioners for review.
  • Counsels patients regarding procedures like lab tests.
  • Assists in maintaining inventories and stocking supplies in examination rooms, nursing, and lab areas.
  • Maintains logs of required data.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and liaison to preserve patient rights.
  • Participates in off-site screening projects.
  • Participates in departmental QA and other patient-related committees.
  • Participates in outreach and community screenings.
  • Participates in case management and patient surveys for quality assurance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • Basic CPR (BCLS) Certification required.
  • Two years of experience working in the health care field.
  • Capacity for covering Medical Assistants at all sites as needed.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole required.

Location

  • Long Island
  • Nassau County

Work Type

  • Full-time
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8 AM to 4 PM shifts
  • One evening shift from 12 PM to 8 PM
  • One rotating Saturday each month

Experience Level

  • Two years of experience in the health care field

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Basic CPR (BCLS) Certification

Salary/Compensations

  • $23.00-$25.00 an hour
