About the Role

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) assists the GM with store merchandising and operations, ensuring proper merchandise assortment, presentation, inventory control, customer service, and financial efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supports a strong commitment to world class customer service.
  • Opens and closes the store, assuming responsibility when the General Manager is out.
  • Supervises Receiving, Customer Service, Maintenance, and Sales Departments.
  • Ensures departments are staffed with service-oriented associates, participates in interviewing and selection.
  • Coordinates training, prepares performance appraisals, recommends merit increases, prepares work schedules, and coaches associates.
  • Works closely with Base Camp Support Staff to ensure proper merchandise assortment and inventory levels.
  • Communicates and implements all advertising and marketing initiatives.
  • Maintains all planograms set by Merchandising.
  • Meets or exceeds all financial plans.
  • Controls Company assets and financial efficiency through audits and monitoring.
  • Executes and communicates all Operating procedures.
  • Develops and executes Sales/Payroll plans and assists in controlling payroll and operating expenses.
  • Provides financial results and performance to the General Manager.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment.
  • Analyzes customer and business analytics to drive goals.
  • Carries out Supervisory responsibilities and partners with Human Resources.
  • Provides a legendary experience for every customer by assisting with buying decisions, making recommendations, and promoting programs.
  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments.
  • Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired results.
  • Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Assists customers in making buying decisions.
  • Identifies and evaluates customer needs.
  • Makes product recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Promotes programs including CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pick-up.

Requirements

  • NEW YORK STATE PISTOL PERMIT REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 5+ years in big box, high volume management.
  • Responsibility for one or more Sales Departments and Receiving or Front End experience.

Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of other financial, legal, and technical information.
  • Ability to read and analyze certain reports.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers and with the Base Camp support staff.
  • Demonstrated use and understanding of servant leadership and team concept of management.
