About the Role

Data and analytics are critical for AXIS to enable confident decision-making, identify new opportunities proactively, and realize cost savings through process efficiencies. The Architecture team designs and enforces data capture, structure, and storage, develops policies for consistent data interpretation, and scales data quality across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and enforce data capture in front-end systems based on desired outcomes.
  • Design data structure and storage to meet business outcomes.
  • Develop and embed policies for consistent data treatment and interpretation across the business.
  • Scale data quality across the organization by defining criteria, monitoring, and remediating issues.
  • Proactively design the AXIS data estate, frameworks, and standards to maximize data value and profit.
  • Translate business outcomes into designs and patterns for technical execution, ensuring optimal build with minimal technical debt.
  • Build policies and frameworks for consistent data architecture practices and scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create conceptual and logical data models and ensure their utilization in new systems and data repositories.
  • Leverage expertise in APIs and data integration to support proof-of-concepts, evaluate emerging technologies, and create robust Data Solution Designs.
  • Support stakeholders in navigating governance forums and architectural review boards.
  • Contribute to the build and maintenance of central data governance and data quality solutions.
  • Contribute to the build and maintenance of master and reference data management strategies and implementation.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of data architecture practices and serve as a technical expert.
  • Engage with group strategy and provide input for improvements to the AXIS data strategy.
  • Simplify existing data architecture, delivering reusable services and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
  • Take on additional duties and responsibilities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience in data-related design and/or build work.
  • Experience with data models and enterprise data lake/warehouse initiatives.
  • Background in Software Engineering is also useful.
  • Experience in data analysis, data integration, and data governance.
  • Familiarity with Azure integration patterns, including APIs and event streaming.
  • Understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and strategies.
  • Exposure to Cloud Data Platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud Data Platforms in real-world scenarios.
  • Understanding of entity-relationship modelling, metadata systems, and data quality tools and techniques.
  • Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions to business needs and client culture.
  • Curious personality driven to learn and develop.
  • Exceptional communication skills for collaboration with business stakeholders and the technology organization.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to various audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, adapt to changing business priorities, and communicate the impact of changes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
