About the Role
The Ethics & Independence team protects the firm and drives quality by ensuring compliance with independence requirements. This role supports and enables client-facing teams and individuals with their personal independence, including personal connections, fit and proper considerations, and financial interests. The team is part of the firm's Quality and Risk function and aligns with service lines to maintain independence for audit and public interest assurance engagements.
Responsibilities
- Respond to formal Ethics and Independence consultations regarding personal independence matters and conflicts.
- Support onboarding and ongoing maintenance of individuals' financial interests.
- Conduct UK and International relationship checks for assignment teams.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, governance, and monitoring obligations.
- Review ethics breaches and perform compliance monitoring.
- Provide digital support and solutions for Ethics and Independence practices.
- Support the development of junior team members.
- Collaborate with internal teams to build relationships and a positive brand.
- Manage workload, prioritize effectively, and communicate with senior stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and innovation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Ethics and Independence within a professional services firm.
- Knowledge and experience of applying UK Ethics and Independence requirements (FRC Ethical Standard, ICAEW Code of Ethics, IESBA Code of Ethics).
- Strong judgment and ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, or regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to support and review the work of others, providing constructive feedback.
- Experience managing a varied workload, prioritizing effectively, and communicating confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Proficient in MS Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
