About the Role

Snap Engineering teams build fun and technically sophisticated products that reach hundreds of millions of Snapchatters around the world, every day. We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join Snap Inc!

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate critical and scalable services, including user identity, friend graph, and core persistence.
  • Collaborate across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver solutions for innovative products.
  • Evaluate, test, and debug work to ensure high quality.
  • Advocate for and apply best practices in availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management.

Requirements

  • Experience with backend services or distributed systems.
  • Ability to independently execute on medium-sized features requiring multiple weeks and PRs.
  • Ability to understand operational aspects of systems and participate in incident/hotfix investigation and resolution.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
  • Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at significant scale.
  • BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience coding in an industry-standard language (e.g. Java, Kotlin, Swift, Python, C++).

Salary/Compensations

  • Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): $118,000-$176,000 annually
  • Zone B: $112,000-$167,000 annually
  • Zone C: $100,000-$150,000 annually
