About the Role

Hennick Humber Hospital is North America’s first fully digital hospital, committed to improving healthcare through technology and clinical expertise. We serve a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto, with a focus on equity, inclusivity, and active participation in the North West Toronto Ontario Health Team. Our Food Service department plays a pivotal role in creating a fresh and tasty restaurant-style menu for patients, focusing on their well-being and nutritional needs.

Responsibilities

• Tray passing, diet changes, and preparation and portioning of food items.
• Regular cleaning and sanitation of work areas and department equipment.
• Washing dishes and cooking equipment in the dish room and pot wash room.
• Removing garbage, recycling, and slop from the department.
• Safely and properly handling cleaning chemicals.
• Ensuring all areas of the kitchen are stocked with clean wares.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School diploma, equivalent, or higher education.
• Good command of the English language (English reading and writing test will be administered).
• Minimum of 3 years hospital food service experience.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and HACCP preferred.
• Food Handlers Certificate required.
• Ability to lift, pull, and push weights of 25lbs or more frequently.
• Positive attitude and a genuine commitment to quality.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing work routines or priorities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated and demonstrates initiative.
• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.
• An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.
