About the Role
City St George’s, University of London is the University of business, practice and the professions. The Department of Performing Arts was formed in August 2022, bringing together the renowned Department of Music and the prestigious musical theatre training provider, Urdang. Our portfolio includes UG courses in Music, Sound and Technology, Commercial Dance, and Professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Postgraduate includes the established MA Music by Research, PhD Music, and MA Music Management/MA Performing Arts Management and Practice. This new Department builds on and innovates our existing offer, developing a new portfolio in performing arts, creative practice and production, sound and design. This exciting realignment mirrors the wider School/University ambition to develop the next generation of creative practitioners to work across the creative and cultural sectors. The department is committed to maintaining the high quality of our teaching.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking administrative, management and leadership duties under the direction of the HoD.
- Maintaining excellent communications alongside colleagues to ensure the provision of good academic support for students.
- Engage in student recruitment activities
- Participate in quality assessment and programme review to meet the requirements of the University and relevant professional bodies under the direction of the HoD
- Effective, positive and active contributions to the organisation and management of academic departments
Requirements
- A first degree in a relevant subject/discipline and a postgraduate degree, or extensive professional experience in the dance industry and related practice-based fields
Skills
- Teaching skills in Commercial Dance and Street styles
