About the Role
The Student Engagement Officer supports student success and visa requirements by monitoring and promoting academic engagement and attendance. This role focuses on early identification of disengagement or barriers to participation, using data to support timely interventions. The officer will collaborate with academic and professional services teams to help students stay connected to their studies, understand expectations, and navigate University processes and visa requirements. Additionally, the role provides specific support for students needing reasonable adjustments and partners with specialist services for broader student support needs. A key aspect involves maintaining engagement monitoring systems and coordinating case management at the School level, ensuring accurate record-keeping and communication.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate key support and engagement processes to deliver an outstanding student experience.
- Work in partnership with colleagues across the University.
- Ensure students can access necessary support at the right time.
- Provide a professional, supportive, and inclusive service to students.
- Act as a first point of contact for reasonable adjustment and engagement related queries.
- Proactively identify barriers to student engagement.
- Monitor student engagement, attendance, and learner analytics to identify students needing support.
- Coordinate engagement-related casework, follow-up actions, and communications.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with University policies and visa requirements.
- Provide guidance on Student Support Plans and reasonable adjustments.
- Signpost students to specialist services where appropriate.
- Build effective relationships with academic and professional services colleagues.
- Contribute to School-wide engagement initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement of processes that enhance student success and retention.
Requirements
- Experience providing high-quality student, customer, or administrative support in a complex environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and handle sensitive situations professionally.
- Strong data management and analytical skills.
- Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft Excel.
