About the Role
National Energy System Operator (NESO) is transforming Great Britain’s energy system towards a cleaner, more sustainable future. The Senior Buyer (Indirects) leads and delivers procurement activities within a regulated environment, collaborating with stakeholders to develop category and sourcing strategies, and ensuring regulatory and governance compliance.
Responsibilities
- Leading strategic sourcing events across indirect categories from strategy to contract award.
- Developing and issuing sourcing documentation (e.g., RFPs) and leading negotiations.
- Presenting sourcing recommendations for approval at an Executive level.
- Driving value creation through demand management, aggregation, supplier innovation, and market competition.
- Ensuring compliance with PA23/PCR and NESO governance requirements.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective sourcing solutions.
- Conducting market and supplier analysis to inform category strategies.
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships and managing performance.
Requirements
- Public sector experience is essential.
- Familiarity with UCR, PCR2015, and the Procurement Act 2023 is essential.
- Expert influencing and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Experienced negotiator skilled in using a range of negotiating tactics.
- Strategic procurement experience in complex environments.
- Entrepreneurial, ability to deal with ambiguity, progressive procurement professional with attention to detail on compliance and assurance.
- Right to work in the UK.
