About the Role

The Safety Officer is responsible for crime detection and prevention, enforcement of College rules, and performing a variety of duties related to protection, safety, and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas on foot, bicycle, and vehicle to ensure the safety of persons and property.
  • Perform dispatch duties, monitor alarms and video cameras.
  • Respond promptly to criminal incidents, disruptive behavior, hazards, alarms, and emergencies, preparing accurate documentation when required.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, transport medical equipment, and provide basic first aid and CPR.
  • Develop community relationships to identify and resolve quality-of-life issues.
  • Inspect institutional property for security and safety hazards and take steps to mitigate risks.
  • Investigate criminal and non-criminal incidents and submit written reports.
  • Support and assist crime victims.
  • Work special events and details as assigned.
  • Perform courier services, including handling payroll documentation, confidential materials, and student examinations.
  • Transport VIPs and guests to and from transportation facilities.
  • Handle financial transfers and deposits between the Business Office and the bank.
  • Enforce campus parking policies according to institutional guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school education plus three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Must obtain Basic First Aid and CPR certification within one year of employment.
  • Must be eligible to satisfy all requirements of the New York State Security Guard Act.
  • Must possess a valid NYS Operator’s License.
  • Must have an excellent driving history.

  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
