About the Role

The Street Outreach Program provides on-the-street services, including crisis and survival care and referral information to street youth. The Community Navigator engages homeless youth with the goal of increasing their access to community resources and natural safety nets, assisting them in crisis intervention, problem solving, action planning, and skill building.

Responsibilities

  • Crisis intervention
  • Screening and assessment
  • Individual counseling
  • Case management
  • Community outreach to locations where youth are known to congregate
  • Transportation of youth as needed
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Engage youth to offer services and referrals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field AND 1 year related experience OR equivalent combination
  • A valid driver's license
  • Background check
  • Driving record & Automobile insurance that meets agency insurance carrier requirements

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of community resources
  • Strong literacy and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of adolescent development including positive youth development, asset development, risk reduction, and protective factors
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Advanced knowledge of Internet Explorer

Work Type

  • Full time 35 hours per week
  • 2 evening shifts a week
  • Weekend availability required

Education Level

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field

Salary/Compensations

  • $20 - $21 per hour
