About the Role
Mount Thor is seeking a software engineer with deep networking expertise to build and operate the network platform for its compute fleet, enabling AI workloads on Apple hardware at datacenter scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for Mount Thor’s production network.
- Design and operate data center fabrics, site connectivity, host networking, customer networks, and management networks.
- Build software for network provisioning, configuration, validation, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Establish a source of truth for topology, addressing, configuration, inventory, and operational state.
- Bring new sites and capacity online, owning the path from design and physical deployment through validation and production handoff.
- Build observability across devices, links, hosts, and workloads to proactively identify performance loss and failures.
- Improve availability, capacity, security, and recovery time, leading incidents and implementing durable fixes for recurring failures.
- Integrate agentic development and operation into the network platform, using coding agents for engineering tasks and building tools for agent-based investigation and action.
Requirements
- Experience building and operating production networks across data centers or large infrastructure environments.
- Strong software engineering skills in Go, Python, Rust, or a similar language.
- Experience building network automation, internal platforms, or infrastructure software used in production.
- Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, routing, switching, network security, and modern data center fabrics.
- Experience with physical infrastructure, network hardware, Linux systems, and software-defined networking.
- Experience with configuration management, infrastructure as code, automated validation, and network observability.
- Strong operational judgment, with a focus on designing for partial failure, safe changes, rollback, and recovery.
- Experience leading unclear, cross-functional infrastructure work from design through production.
