About the Role
Green Mountain Electric Supply is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor for its rapidly expanding Electrical Supplies business at the Liverpool, NY branch. This role offers growth potential for individuals at any career stage.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts.
- Plans warehouse layout considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of stored items.
- Advises employees on care and preservation of items, handling methods, and storage procedures.
- Reviews records for accuracy and compliance with procedures, and to determine stock levels.
- Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
- Traces item history to identify discrepancies and recommends solutions.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Assigns duties and examines work for exactness and conformance to policies.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve subordinate efficiency.
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
- Prepares composite reports from individual subordinate reports.
- Adjusts errors and complaints.
- Directly supervises all warehouse employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving complaints.
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Knowledge of Paychex Payroll systems and Solar Database software.
- Forklift certified.
- Current driver's license required.
- Ability to frequently stand and walk.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Ability to occasionally sit, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
