About the Role
The Seasonal Events Assistant supports the preparation, execution, and cleanup of events at Community First! Village, including the Village of Lights. This role ensures a smooth experience for attendees, volunteers, and staff by managing logistics and event-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with onsite event setup and teardown including food, tables, chairs, and waste management
- Execute promotional tasks using Mailchimp, Eventbrite, social media, and Canva
- Research venues and vendors for upcoming events
- Lead volunteer groups in event-specific tasks
- Support Village of Lights and other large-scale event operations
- Create and manage QR codes for event use
- Conduct regular inventory and organization of event décor and supplies
- Assemble supplies for volunteers and staff
- Create and install event signage
- Organize and steward shared event spaces
- Prepare and charge event technology equipment including walkie-talkies and iPads
- Manage event boards using Asana
- Perform administrative tasks to support event coordination
- Execute post-event cleanup, inventory, and storage of materials
Requirements
- Commitment to serving those experiencing homelessness
- Alignment with MLF vision, mission, core values, and goals
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- Detail-oriented approach to event logistics
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift at least 30 lbs regularly
- Ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Willingness to work outdoors and perform physical setup tasks
- Availability to work September through January
- Availability to work specific dates: September 18-19, December 3-5, and December 11-12
- Availability for occasional nights and weekends
